A Quick Intro to Traveling in Ireland

Shelbourn Hotel Dublin Ireland

The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, Ireland

Ireland is an amazing country filled with lots of small town, local pubs, and lots of festivals.  But that is just a small part of the fascinating things to do an see in Ireland.  This country is full of history ancient ruins, castles, chrches and of corse shopping.  Ireland is not a large country so it is fairly easy to get around, however touring by car seems to be your  best bet though.  When planning your trip decied ahead of time if you want to stay at one hotel or hop between a couple.

Timing is everything and the best time to travel is spring and fall, this leads to shorter lines at museums and the roads are less crowded.  Besides the hotels are cheaper and so are the airfares.  For what you can save it is only about 10 degrees cooler from May to June, grab a jacket and save a hundred plus dollars.

And don’t forget to stop and have afternoon tea at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin it an amazing experience that will make you feel like a kid in a candy store with the tower of fancy pasteries and cute little sandwiches placed in front of you.  This hotel is also a historical landmark the Irish constitution was drafted in room 112 in the year 1922. With 265 room now, after an 18 month reverberation in 2006 the hotel has been restored to  its old-world charm with all the modern amenities.

Make sure while visiting you stop at some local pubs they are the heart of small towns.  You can meet and hang out with some locals and find out how there life is and get some advice on what to see and where to eat, nobody knows where to eat better. And of course the best place for this is Dublin’s Temple Bar district.  By day a cultural hot spot with boutiques and art galleries, and by night all the clubs and bars light up the street.
